The 14th Annual Rural Health Conference, "The Weight of Our Rural Communities: Partnering to Reduce Obesity," will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ferguson Center on The University of Alabama campus. The conference is hosted by the University's Institute for Rural Health Reserch and College of Community Health Sciences. The conference will feature keynote speakers Michael O. Minor, EdD, national director of H.O.P.E. Health and Human Services Partnership, and Ravi K. Patel, founder of the Nashville Mobile Market. Breakout sessions focusing on clinical, community and behavioral topics will be offered. Continuing Education Units will be provided for nurses, social workers, dieticians and health educators. An Active Reception will follow the conference and will include an evening of food, discussion and active education. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. at the University's Student Recreation Center.
