Jim Rainey became the new publisher of The Tuscaloosa News November 1, 2012 after holding similar positions for Southern Newspapers and The Opelika-Auburn News. The 46-year-old Atlanta native is the son of a UA graduate. He succeeded Interim Publisher Lee Knapp. During the breakfast appearance sponsored by the University of Alabama chapter of The Society of Professional Journalists, Rainey will discuss the status of the newspaper industry in 2012 and some of his goals and plans for the Pulitizer Prize-winning news team at The Tuscaloosa News.
